Handing over to Next Generation

My Dear Friends and Partners,

I’m excited to reach out to all of our valued partners  to announce a change in the Etho Metho Management team .After 29 years at Etho Metho and 35 years in Bhutan’s Tourism Industry- Jochu, Nim, Sangay and me have decided that its time to hand over the management of the company that we built in 1991 to the next generation of children and take on the advisory role as Board Directors.

  • Eutha Karchung to be the new CEO
  • Karma Yangchen as  the Director of Sales and Marketing
  • Thinley Dorji as the Director of Operations and Transport
  • Tenzin Wangchuk as the Director of Human Resources and Administration

My partners and I have managed the company till date and our long years with the travel industry have been incredible and our journey from wireless to fax to  the digital age  has been fascinating and an enriching experience. Being the pioneers of tourism in Bhutan during the 1980’s at a time when roads were just being built to the interiors of our country, when the first trekking routes were being explored, when the first Dornier flights were being introduced, when the policy of high value-low impact  was being carefully thought of and our children( now Directors) being born -all seem like yesterday .

After 29 years we now feel that this premier travel  company that we nutured is ready for new energy and growth and that the younger generation is ready to shoulder their responsibility. At its core, Etho Metho is a local, family business. Hence, this change in leadership is in fact, a passing of the baton from us to our children, with the hopes that they run the agency grounded in the same beliefs and values that it was founded upon. Our parting words to the new management are to continue the quality service that Etho Metho has provided last three decades, support each other and keep up the goodwill of several years.

As the new CEO and Directors begin their next phase of growth, we ask them to keep the Bhutanese fable of the Four Friends in mind. This fable is an important one, of four unlike friends: an elephant, a monkey, a hare and a bird. Although very different from one another, through the spirit of cooperation and helping others, they work together to become friends. This is our hope for them. Although they come from very different backgrounds, hold different strengths and varying levels of experience in different fields, we hope that they work together to bring forth new ideas of creativity.

To all of our valued partners and dear friends – THANK YOU -where would we be without your love ,blessings and support all these years. Words cannot express our gratitude to those of you who have been with us ,some as way back as 1991 – we have been through thick and thin! and to those of you who have joined us recently- a big welcome .Thank you for having faith in us  and help fulfill our vision. My wish and hope is that you will continue to be with  us as we embark on this new journey with the new Directors and their dedicated team of 56 staff.
