Etho Metho (pronounced ettoh mettoh) is the name given to the rhododendron in Bhutan's national language, Dzongkha. We have many varieties of rhododendron growing in the mountain forests of our beautiful country. If you are traveling in the hinterland during spring, you will experience the magnificent sight of towering tree species in their full glory, covered in a profusion of intense red and dazzling white blooms, as your journey takes you ever upwards towards the high passes.

Etho Metho Tours & Treks Ltd is one of the largest and most experienced Tour Operators in Bhutan. Established in 1991 by three veterans of the former government-run Tourism Department, Etho Metho is now one of Bhutan’s leading tourism companies, both in quality and range of services provided and in number of international clients handled each year.

Mindful of the fragility of the natural environment, our aim is to "take nothing but photographs and leave nothing but footprints" when introducing visitors to the small, green Himalayan jewel that is Bhutan. When trekking, we bury all biodegradable garbage, and bring the rest back to Thimphu for recycling or proper disposal.

Environmental concerns are a major part of Bhutan’s development policy. As a mark of her concern for environmental issues, our Managing Director, Aum (Mrs) Dago Beda served for two years as vice president of the Royal Society for Protection of Nature, and is currently a board member of the Bhutan Trust Fund, which supports most of the environmental activities that take place in Bhutan.
